Using the theme “True Family Values,” Christ Chosen Generation Church in Jersey City hosted our February 23 ACLC Prayer Breakfast. Guest speaker Bishop Rene Ballenas, Presiding Bishop of the Association of Christian Evangelists, remarked, “as clergy we put value in taking care of other people but not our own families. We share this message with the whole world but fail to get our own families involved.” Then he cited Galatians 6:1-5, ….Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves. Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, for each one should carry their own load.” [Read more…]
The cold weather did not keep people away from joining together in prayer and worship for the first Prayer Breakfast of 2019 on January 26. The gathering, held at New Hope Family in Bowie, MD, was attended by 20 pastors from 20 different churches, and 25 supporting staff and local religious people.
The spirit filled the hall from songs offered by Dr. Ivy Hylton, Youth & Families in Crisis, LLC, and prayers organized by Minister Eva Ozaki’s prayer team, Pastor Nnadi prayed for the family, Rev. John Savoy, New Dimensions Church, prayed for the community and nation, and Dr. Paulette Hunter, from Because We Care Christian Ministry, prayed for the world and for those who suffer. Co-MC’s Dr. Patra Kidwell, Patra Kidwell Ministries, and Rev. James Stewart, Baltimore Family Church, embraced the participants with praise and love. [Read more…]
ACLC Prayer Breakfast. Our theme was “Giving Thanks,” so we wanted to recognize all those who contribute to the community with various types of ministry. Not only those who do traditional ministry through preaching at their Church, but also those who have a sports ministry, a music ministry, an outreach ministry, missions in and out of the United States, marriage re-dedication ministry were recognized. Nearly 300 clergy and elected officials from 28 nations participated in a landmark conference in New York centered on the theme “Overcoming Division, Building Unity: The role of faith, government and civil society leaders,” where participants explored paths toward reconciliation. The three-day program, sponsored by the American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC) and the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), was held in the New Yorker Hotel from November 10 – 12, 2018. Rev. Dr. Cynthia Jackson (pastor of Allen AME Church and President of Newark AME District Ministers Fellowship) gave the message to the 40 guests gathered at our prayer breakfast.
The title of her sermon was “Is there a Nehemiah in the house?” She began by reading the passage in Nehemiah about the city of Jerusalem being destroyed and burned at the gates.
