In a spirit-filled gathering of one accord ACLC pastors, ministers and friends joined with the congregation and staff of Imani Temple African-American Catholic congregation in Suitland, Maryland, on May 14, 2016, to celebrate Pentecost weekend and the conclusion of 40-Days of prayer and fasting.
Fr. Lawrence Ventline is a great friend of ACLC and very much inspired by our focus on the restoration of marriage. Upon his 40th anniversary in the priesthood he went back to visit the churches around the Detroit area that he pastured over the years. One of them is now a Baptist Church named New Liberty. He spoke with the pastor, Rev. Maurice Simage, and they decided to celebrate by having a symposium. In their discussion on a topic they both agreed that a panel discussion centered on marriage would be most valuable for the church and the community.
In Revelation 22:14, when referring to the Second Coming of Jesus, it reads, “Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates.” On Saturday, April 30th, 2016, members of the American Clergy Leadership Conference of Los Angeles and their guests truly experienced a blessing from Jesus and the Holy Spirit at the Holy Marriage Blessing Ceremony held at Christian Light MBC and officiated by Bishop J.L. Briggs and First Lady Peggy Briggs. In preparation for this Blessing, ACLC Los Angeles committed themselves to preparing couples to understand more deeply the significance of the Blessing; the change of blood lineage and the indemnity conditions involved with the Blessing. “During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him…” Hebrews 5:7-9
Archbishop George Augustus Stallings, Jr., the keynote speaker at the Saturday, April 30, 2016 ACLC Prayer Breakfast in Brooklyn, New York, gave a challenging message to an audience of 80 people. He said each believer should not only believe and follow Christ, but should become a little messiah himself. Jesus calls each of us to be perfect as our Father in heaven is perfect. (Matthew 5:48) We are made with the same stuff as Jesus, and if we are not “anointed ones” ourselves, how can we do “greater works” than those done by Jesus? (John 14:12) [Read more…]
“Jesus had something he wanted to show us. Each one of us is making history as an individual, in a family, on the national or world level…by serving others we are elevated. In Matthew 18-20 it says, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” When there is unity, God is there.”
“Putting Faith into Action” was the theme of the New Jersey Women In Ministry (WIM) first prayer breakfast of 2016, held on Saturday, April 23rd, at Berean Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Jeffrey T. Garland, the host pastor, warmly welcomed everyone to his church. He said his church had hosted many ACLC prayer breakfasts over the years, and expressed that he was really impressed that pastors from other states and representatives from ACLC national headquarters came out for the event.
