ACLC Women In Ministry Four-City Seminar Tour
Ezekiel 22:30 — “So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land…”
By the grace of God, ACLC Women In Ministry (WIM) were able to stand in the gap as women united in heart here in Chicago on March 19, 2016, celebrating the anniversary of launching the Four-City Seminar. Although just one year has passed, so much growth has occurred in all of us. The foundation of prayer breakfasts and regular Bible/Divine Principle study meetings, and community True Family Values events has been of tremendous benefit to all of us. In planning this event, we formed teams and organized committees with the guidance and support of our ACLC and WFWP national leaders.
Over 120 clergy, youth, brothers and sisters gathered on March 19th in the fellowship hall of the New Life Center Church of God in Christ in Chicago for a special seminar hosted by ACLC Women In Ministry (WIM). The New Life Center pastor, Rev. T.L. Barrett, is Chairman of the ACLC Founders Committee and member of the ACLC National Executive Committee. It was also the 48th Anniversary week of New Life Center COGIC.
This is the second year ACLC Women In Ministry is holding 1-day seminars in four cities, and Chicago again has taken the lead. The Women’s Federation for World Peace of Chicago joined ACLC WIM in co-sponsoring the program, and was given strong support from Love Train Ministry, ACLC of Chicago (which is so powerful!) and the Chicago Family Federation for World Peace and Unification.
(Note: ACLC Women In Ministry started on March 24, 2004, Father and Mother Moon proclaimed that this is the era of women at the US Capitol, the day after they received crowns as the King and Queen of Peace. Therefore, March is a very special month to ACLC Women In Ministry. This was our 12th anniversary!)
We are so proud of our Chicago team (led by ACLC Evang. Greta Myers, Sister Carrie Tonkumoh, Sadako Maeda, Kathleen Davis, Rev. Helen Cooper and Rev. Etta Ellis, working with WFWP leadership Min. Fannie Mae Smith and Patricia Fliginger). Twice a week for a month they had a conference call meeting and prayer condition, as well as organizing meetings. The event costs were fully covered by the $30/person registration fee. The program went from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the focus was on the True Family Values Presentation:
We were also honored to receive the afternoon keynote address given by Sister Donna Farrakhan (daughter of Minister Louis and Mother Kadijah Farrakhan). We thank Former Chief of Protocol of the Nation of Islam, Sister Claudette Muhammad, who helped us bring Sister Donna as a speaker.
The powerful morning Praise and Worship was led by event organizer Evang. Greta Myers, Co-Coordinator of Chicago ACLC WIM. Our very effective MC was Min. Fannie Mae Smith, National Coordinator for Schools of Africa Project, WFWP. An opening prayer was given by Rev. Betty Tatalajski, long-time ACLC member and pastor of the Temple of Universality in Arizona. The prayer brought a peaceful atmosphere to prepare our heart and spirit to receive the presenters for the day.
Pastor T.L. Barrett gave a very warm welcome and began by testifying how Father and Mother Moon healed his marriage, and that he is so inspired by True Mother’s leadership. He mentioned, “I feel so moved by Mother Moon as she is going through all the incredible historical pressure to lift this world out of darkness into the era of Blessed Families.” We really felt at home in the presence of Pastor and Mrs. Barrett. Mrs. Barrett has become National Advisor for ACLC WIM and is giving much wisdom and encouragement to all ACLC WIM.
Sister Carrie Tonkumoh, Co-Coordinator of Chicago ACLC WIM, gave a wonderful welcome representing Chicago ACLC WIM.
“I really felt the feminine side of God on Saturday. I could see how powerful the feminine side of God really is, and how much that part wants the women of the world to really unite together.” Sister Carrie Tonkumoh
Rev. Marilyn Kotulek, Co- Chairman of ACLC Oklahoma and ACLC Women In Ministry Co- Chair, read the Statement of Purpose explaining our mission and goal of ACLC and ACLC Women In Ministry. She also shared, “I met ACLC and Father and Mother Moon when they were doing the 50-state tour. The strength of ACLC is that it is founded on the Word of God. It states that we are here to Rebuild the Family (in God’s image), Restore the Community and Renew the Nation and the world. I was so moved by the Holy Spirit and now every year we are seeing God work through ACLC WIM to bring reconciliation with our Native American leaders and brothers and sisters in Oklahoma.”
Archbishop George Augustus Stallings, Jr., National Co-Chairman of ACLC, gave congratulatory remarks on behalf of the ACLC leadership and Dr. Ki Hoon Kim, National Co-Chairman of ACLC. In his talk, he continued, “God created woman as his final and highest creation. Only women understand the power of giving birth and new life. Women are the divine creation of God and when they join together with their husbands in Blessed Marriage in God’s image, they become the embodiment of God! I have to say it – I never thought I would say this – but as I now see it, women are better than men! Women In Ministry, you are now leading us together with True Mother into the Kingdom! “ He couldn’t help but praise the position of women for God. We thank God for this precious message from Heaven.
He also congratulated Pastor and Mrs. Barrett for the 48th Anniversary of New Life Center.
Min. Fannie Mae Smith read a short speech from True Mother.
“True Mother was in the house Saturday, definitely, because I felt her love, her kindred spirit, her kindness and her thoroughness.” Min. Fannie Mae Smith
The True Family Values presentations were prefaced by a beautiful song given by Evang. Rita Pritchett, which was just right to prepare the audience to receive the presenters.
Rev. Mama Joy Sigur-Ramza and Rev. Rosemary Bookstein each led an ACLC True Family Ministry power point study session. Their presentations on “God’s Original Ideal” and “What Went Wrong” provided an excellent chance to review the Bible verses and Father Moon’s words explaining God’s blueprint for mankind at the beginning of human history and how we deviated from it.
They worked diligently with Minister Reiko and Rev. Kotulek to practice the day before and they did a magnificent job. Their presentations gave hope to many of the clergy gathered there that they can present these anointed teachings to their congregations. (Note: these great women leaders came from the Love Train Ministry that Evang. Greta Myers developed in relationship to ACLC WIM. Greta is bringing forth some of the great women spiritual leaders that God has prepared.)
Rev. Joy Sigur-Ramza gave the first presentation – God’s Original Ideal, which teaches the Biblical foundation for the family. Because she had prepared the presentation with much prayer and reading True Father’s Autobiography to understand his heart and mission, she was deeply in the spirit to convey the message with joy and excitement. We all were inspired by the words she read on every screen.
“Preparing for Saturday was an experience I’ve never had before. I studied and read and pondered, was up nights. I was honestly driven, and I didn’t know why. In those two weeks I was preparing, I caught the spirit of Father Moon. It was an experience I never had before. I could just hear him and feel him nearby. The presence of Father Moon was there with me.
I’m willing to learn and do whatever it is I can to deliver this message, particularly as I share it with my community. This is something we need. We need healing, we need family. We need the foundation that you have there for us. Whatever it is that I can do to make that happen, God knows I will do my best.
In preparing for this presentation, I became a more focused student of the philosophy, gift of spiritual historical tracking, mind and spirit of Father Moon. There could not have been a greater connection for me of the meeting of the East and West through this spiritual liberation. I invested hours to prepare a sincere presentation under guidance of the Divine Presence of The Heavenly Mother and Spirit of Father Moon. This assignment demanded more from me than any I can remember but the wisdom, knowledge and validating encouragement I gained are priceless. I must take more time to learn about Mother Moon. She is of tremendous value and validating importance in this juncture of Father Moon’s global ministry.” Rev. Joy Sigur-Ramza
The next presentation, “What Went Wrong,” was given by Rev. Rosemary Bookstein. She read each slide very clearly and firmly. The Bible verses and True Father’s words were very helpful to understand the Fall of Man.
We were fed very well spiritually through the teaching. The handouts given for the presentation were very helpful.
Not only were we well fed in spirit, but the members of the New Life Center led by Pastor Barrett’s sister, Joan, made the most delicious biscuits, gravy, fried chicken and potato waffle with so much love and care. We had a wonderful lunch and fellowship. Many Chicago Family Church members came out and also Rev. Barrett’s members came out as well.
After lunch, we held a raffle and enjoyed a praise dance to the tune “Breaking the Chains” by Ms. Jasmine Cook in preparation to receive the keynote speaker.
Mrs. Cleopatra Barrett gave a warm and gracious introduction to our speaker, Sister Donna Farrakhan. Since the first meeting of ACLC with Min. Farrakhan was held at Rev. Barrett’s Church, it was especially meaningful to have his daughter address ACLC Women In Ministry there. The topic was “Standing in the Gap for Families.”
She said God tells us in Isaiah 55:8-9, “My thoughts are not your thoughts and my ways are not your ways.” We can’t close the gap without God’s help. We must close the gap with God’s Word. She went on to say that we have to strive to become perfect in God. She was humble but strong, and lovingly challenged us to become perfect in God to be able to stand in the gap. It was a very beautiful message that really touched our hearts.
Thank you, Sister Donna.
We sang a birthday song and cut a cake to celebrate Archbishop Stallings’ birthday, wishing for a great and blessed year ahead, right before he left to the airport to attend the celebration of his birthday at his church, the Imani Temple, where the congregation was waiting for him to come back.
Afterward the Community Youth Ensemble choir “Voices of Hope,” composed of youth from the Nation of Islam, led us in songs such as ‘We are the World,” bringing joy to all of us.
WFWP Chicago Chairwoman, Mrs. Patricia Fliginger, gave an explanation of Women’s Federation for World Peace and invited them to be a part of it.
ACLC Women In Ministry’s Co- Chair Minister, Reiko Jenkins, explained Project ”Send Us” from Isaiah 6:8 and asked all the women to contribute their photos for the “Send Us” collage of women’s portraits.
Mrs. Cleopatra Barrett, National Adviser of ACLC WIM, explained about the annual ad book and asked everybody sign up.
“We want to rebuild families, restore the community and renew the nation, and I believe we help with the world. Today people felt relieved. That was the main thing. The people who came today wanted relief. Those people were relieved when they left on Saturday, and I believe God stepped in.” Evang. Greta Myers
” I never attended anything like this as real as this one ever before. My spirit is so filled that I am enjoying myself and in prayer for what God is unfolding in my spiritual life of serving young mothers who need help before I go home.” Min. Noble Childress
Blessing of Marriage was led by Dr. Michael Jenkins, ACLC Chairman Emeritus, and Minister Reiko Jenkins, Co-Chairman of ACLC WIM. The representative couple, Deacon and Evang. Myers’ couple, as well as Evang. Rita Pritchett and her husband in the spirit world, received the holy wine. As an officiator couple, Rev. and Mrs. Barrett prayed over them.
“God was in the room. The spirit of Father was there. Father was there with us.” Evang. Greta Myers
Rev. Johnny Porter of the Chicago Family Church gave closing remarks.
Sister Donna Farrakhan joined in the celebratory cake-cutting with all ACLC Women In Ministry’s leadership.
To conclude this deeply moving day, Coordinator of the Chicago ACLC Women in Ministry, Evang. Greta Myers, closed out the day with special thanks to all who have invested themselves. We then joined hands in a Prayer circle and Evang. Greta gave the closing prayer, sharing a heartfelt moment of gratitude with our Heavenly Parent. The members of Love Train Ministry which Evangelist Greta initiated 2 years ago truly deserve recognition for their hard work and for continually building on the foundation which Father and Mother Moon have made here in Chicago.
Life Center COGIC, Pastor and Mrs. TL Barrett, Jr., will always be special to us because they have hosted Father Moon, our True Mother Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, as well as the True Family there over the years.
The Nation of Islam family has really set the standard for interfaith cooperation and love for all of us and support for the Blessing of Marriage, and assisting us to proclaim this powerful message which binds us together as one family under God.
Truly it was a beautiful and blessed event. We really felt the unity of all the women made the foundation for its success.
Submitted by Min. Reiko Jenkins and Rev. Marilyn Kotulek, ACLC WIM National Co-Chairwomen, with contributions from Evang. Greta Myers and Patricia Fliginger – WFWP Chicago Chairman.
