The cold weather did not keep people away from joining together in prayer and worship for the first Prayer Breakfast of 2019 on January 26. The gathering, held at New Hope Family in Bowie, MD, was attended by 20 pastors from 20 different churches, and 25 supporting staff and local religious people.
The spirit filled the hall from songs offered by Dr. Ivy Hylton, Youth & Families in Crisis, LLC, and prayers organized by Minister Eva Ozaki’s prayer team, Pastor Nnadi prayed for the family, Rev. John Savoy, New Dimensions Church, prayed for the community and nation, and Dr. Paulette Hunter, from Because We Care Christian Ministry, prayed for the world and for those who suffer. Co-MC’s Dr. Patra Kidwell, Patra Kidwell Ministries, and Rev. James Stewart, Baltimore Family Church, embraced the participants with praise and love.
Pastor Antoine McClurkin, Pastor, 1st Christian Community @ The Cathedral, was the guest speaker, raising the atmosphere with wisdom and heart offering words on “Renewal In The Lord For the New Year.” He fully explained the Bible quote from Romans 12: 12, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect Will of God” utilizing life lessons to enhance the entire groups’ understanding.
New PG County ACLC coordinator, Rev. Susan Fefferman, brought everyone’s attention together to recognize our common connections as brothers and sisters in Christ, and that one of the purposes of ACLC is to remove the barriers that separate us, denominationalism and racism. She also, introduced the Blessing of Marriage ceremony being held in churches to help save marriages and remind everyone of the sacredness of the marriage connection to God, the creator of all humankind.
Dr. Hylton closed with a powerful prayer for the group and a unison prayer for God’s blessings to flow over this great nation. Sincere tears of gratitude flowed from many eyes. Everyone was uplifted and inspired by the entire program, some asking when the next program would be held.
